5 tips to have a great 2018

 

How blessed we are to be alive in 2018. We cannot take it for granted. A lot of people started 2017 with hopes, dreams, plans, goals etc but life took its course. To those who achieved all their goals, congratulations; those who didn’t but are alive, be happy all the same. When there is life, there is hope.

Personally, 2017 was a great year. The most valuable year in my life. In 2017, I faced my demons, attacked my fears, dealt with deep seated emotional and mental issues, learnt to forgive and I mean FORGIVE. You see, holding anger hurts you more than the person who hurt you. It took me so long but my heart has never felt this light. When you let go of bitterness, you let in God’s light into your life. Bitterness and anger is a very heavy burden, it weighs you down and takes off from you in all facets.

All that negative energy envelopes you like darkness.  Thing is, you attract what you are. How can you be enveloped in darkness and expect to receive light. Your thoughts become. Therefore, if you constantly think negative thoughts, you are unconsciously sending out negativity to the universe and trust that the universe will bounce back to you, whatever you send out. Get it?

I know that it is hard to think positive thoughts if you are hurting, angry or bitter. However, you cannot receive healing if you do not confront and deal with these issues. You have to find a way to talk about whatever the issue is. You could talk to yourself (stand in front of the mirror and talk to the image in the mirror, assuming that is your best friend) or talk to your confidant or a professional. Find somebody you trust to LISTEN to you TALK.  Talking about it is the first step towards dealing with it. Pour your heart out (tears and all) and then FORGIVE. Forgiving means you have LET GO.

Letting go does not necessarily mean forgetting. Letting go means that even when you remember the incident(s), you do not feel the bitterness or the urge to cry.

Remember that there is no path to happiness. Happiness is the path. Protect your happiness. Cut off anything that triggers you. Fight to protect your peace. I had to cut off a few things myself, including people.

Take it one day at a time. We all have goals and dreams, but you have to remember to give room for time and chance. Work hard or smart (whichever, just work) pray and trust the universe to reward your effort.

MOST IMPORTANTLY –

Take care of yourself. Eat healthy, drink lots of water and exercise. Drink water first thing in the morning. Drink water during the day. Just drink water. Eat fruits and vegetables. A glass of wine on the weekend. Exercise at least 2 times a week. Stay healthy. You will sleep better and your skin will glow.

Look Good. Looking good is good business. When you look good, you feel good. When you dress well (and I do not mean expensive) you walk with a certain level of confidence. Ladies please, hair, nails, teeth, skin on fleek. Wear fragrance too. Keep your outfit simple and classy.  Gentlemen keep it clean (You all can consult me to help with this ‘vain’ aspect of your life lol)

SMILE : Wear a smile even when you do not feel like it. I should say laugh but in the least, just smile. You are having a bad day? Smile. There is something uplifting about positive energy. It makes everything better. Your problems, nah scratch that, challenges may not go away but you get through them better. Remember that whining and worrying do not take away; but magnify the problems.
